Introduction
Lumir has been a key partner in South Korea’s space industry, contributing to major milestones and helping shape the New Space era through innovative Earth observation technologies. We are building a connected and sustainable world by providing continuous, actionable intelligence for both commercial and governmental applications.
Since its founding in 2009, Lumir has been dedicated to the development of ultra-high-resolution synthetic aperture radar (SAR) systems and advanced radar signal and image processing software.
Over the years, the company has successfully miniaturized and reduced the weight of several core components while localizing their production as part of the Korean government’s Earth observation satellite programs. These efforts have established a strong foundation for Lumir’s involvement in the Earth observation data industry.
Recognized for its technological capabilities, Lumir signed a contract in 2023 to develop the complete C-band SAR system for the CAS500-5 satellite and successfully launched the Lumir-T1 sub-satellite aboard the third Nuri rocket, showcasing its capabilities in civil space applications.
Building on its proven expertise in space development, Lumir plans to deploy a constellation of 18 small SAR satellites by 2030. This initiative aims to position South Korea as a global space leader and support the launch of a large-scale Earth observation data program.
As a pioneer in Korea’s space sector, Lumir remains committed to enhancing the security of Korea and its allies by delivering reliable, high-performance satellites through continuous innovation and precision engineering.
